Oh my, Oamaru!

A few days leave, a good weather window, a lack of penguins in my recent past, and the wish to explore the Waitaki region more resulted in a 7 hour drive down from Blenheim to Oamaru. My plan for a few days was to photograph the penguins, explore the Victoria Precinct, eat the amazing food Oamaru has to offer, and head further afield if the weather behaved.

Sailing the South Atlantic with Argos Georgia

In November 2018, I read that Argos Froyanes had launched two new vessels for tooth-fishing in the Ross Sea. Argos Georgia and Nordic Prince are state of the art long-liners, sitting at 54 meters long and taking a crew of around 25 staff. Designed with the safety of the crew in mind, the vessels use a moon pool in the hull to haul the tooth-fish in, they are ice strengthened and have incredibly modern technology.
